The Complete Guide to ACCA Course Structure for Bangladeshi Students

Are you considering an ACCA course in Bangladesh? Understanding the structure of this globally recognised qualification is essential for planning your journey to becoming a chartered certified accountant.

What is ACCA?

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification is a gateway to a rewarding career in finance and accounting. The ACCA course offers flexible study options, making it accessible to students across Bangladesh who wish to gain international recognition in the accounting profession.

ACCA Course Structure Breakdown

The ACCA qualification is divided into three main levels, each designed to build your knowledge progressively:

Applied Knowledge Level

The journey begins with three fundamental papers:

  • Business and Technology (BT)
  • Management Accounting (MA)
  • Financial Accounting (FA)

These papers establish the core principles of accounting and business that form the foundation of your professional knowledge.

Applied Skills Level

Once you’ve mastered the basics, you’ll progress to six papers that develop your technical skills:

  • Corporate and Business Law (LW)
  • Performance Management (PM)
  • Taxation (TX)
  • Financial Reporting (FR)
  • Audit and Assurance (AA)
  • Financial Management (FM)

This level equips you with the practical skills needed in professional accounting roles.

Strategic Professional Level

The final level consists of two mandatory papers and two optional papers from four choices:

Mandatory:

  • Strategic Business Leader (SBL)
  • Strategic Business Reporting (SBR)

Optional (choose two):

  • Advanced Financial Management (AFM)
  • Advanced Performance Management (APM)
  • Advanced Taxation (ATX)
  • Advanced Audit and Assurance (AAA)

Practical Experience Requirement

Beyond examinations, ACCA requires 36 months of relevant practical experience, which can be gained before, during, or after your studies. This ensures you develop the necessary workplace skills alongside your academic knowledge.

Study Options in Bangladesh

Students in Bangladesh can choose from various study methods:

  • Full-time classroom courses
  • Part-time evening or weekend classes
  • Online learning platforms
  • Self-study with official materials

Many institutes in Bangladesh offer structured programmes tailored to local students’ needs while maintaining the global standards ACCA requires.

Computer-Based Examinations

ACCA has transitioned to computer-based examinations for all papers, offering greater flexibility with four exam sessions annually in March, June, September, and December.

Ethics and Professional Skills Module

Students must complete this module between the Applied Skills and Strategic Professional levels to develop essential professional skills and ethical awareness.

Building Your Career Path

The ACCA qualification is designed to be achievable while working, allowing you to build practical experience alongside your studies. Many Bangladeshi students begin their ACCA journey after completing higher secondary education or during their university studies.

With proper planning and dedication, you can complete the ACCA course within 3-4 years, opening doors to prestigious roles in accounting firms, multinational corporations, or entrepreneurial ventures.

Understanding this structure helps Bangladeshi students map their education journey effectively, balancing study commitments with other responsibilities while progressing toward a valuable professional qualification recognised worldwide.
